3P application (Lean management)

Challenge

KONE is one of the global leaders in the elevator and escalator industry. KONE developed Access application for their internal use to support 3P method (Production Preparation Process). The application is customized for their factory in Ústí nad Labem (list of employees, production lines, etc.). We were asked to create a couple of new features in the current application (e.g., automatic email reporting, new Abnormality type – KAIZEN, etc.). The current functionality had to be preserved, and we were asked to improve the performance.

 

Solution

The application was built on Microsoft Access 2010 platform with Microsoft SQL Server database server backend. We had to learn all processes in the application to preserve and test the original functionality. By simplifying and optimizing the queries, we successfully managed to speed up the whole application and to make the user experience better.

At the end of the project we proceeded with upgrades with backward compatibility and following new features:
